Drawn to Trauma: A Graphic Memoir
Can comics depict sexual violence without triggering survivors? Mel is on a journey to find out by exploring her own sexual violence experiences in a graphic novel based on her doctoral research.
In the spring of 2023, the prologue of Drawn to Trauma, “Trauma”, was featured in OCAD University’s “Telling Stories” exhibit.

The Bum Drum Conundrum
The Bum Drum Conundrum is a traditionally published picture book (Tiny Tree Press, 2019) that teaches children consent through the metaphor of tag.
Malina loves to play with her friends, but she doesn't like their new game — the Bum Drum. It makes Malina feel uncomfortable. Malina learns that saying "no" is OK and her friends learn the importance of respecting other people’s boundaries.
